Dr. Austin V. Stone

MD, PHD, FAAOS

Dr. Austin V. Stone is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Physician who enjoys taking care of athletes and active individuals of all ages. Dr. Stone specializes in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine conditions of the shoulder, elbow and knee, in addition to cartilage injuries and the use of ortho-biologics. As an avid cyclist and runner, he is committed to helping his patients restore an active lifestyle through excellence in musculoskeletal care, continued participation in state-of-art orthopedic research and dedication to sports medicine.

He serves as a Team Physician for the University of Kentucky Athletics and Eastern Kentucky University Athletics. Dr. Stone has research interests in knee cartilage and meniscus injuries, prevention of osteoarthritis development, and patellar dislocations.  He is also actively engaged in evaluation and management of the throwing athlete. He serves in several national and state societies and is committed to delivering the highest quality evidence-based care.

Dr. Stone completed medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine followed by his Orthopedic Surgery Residency training at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. During his residency, he also completed an orthopedic research fellowship and obtained a PhD in Molecular Medicine and Translational Sciences specializing in cartilage injury and osteoarthritis. Dr. Stone then completed an Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Rush University Medical Center where he also served as an assistant Team Physician to the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Fire and the Chicago Steel.

In his free time, Dr. Stone enjoys active time together in the Bluegrass with his wife and daughters.
