Introducing the Kentucky Heel Pain Center!
It’s here! We have officially launched the new Kentucky Heel Pain Center — the state’s first ever podiatry practice to focus entirely on heel pain! We’ll focus on the health conditions and injuries that cause heel pain, which regularly affect 16 percent of Americans according to the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Why, you might ask? Well, heel pain is the most common complaint I hear from patients, and it’s also one of the most frequently misdiagnosed and untreated. This new specialty practice will let us focus more on heel issues and help patients who have not walked comfortably in months, even years.
There are lot of conditions that can cause heel pain, the most common being over-pronation, or the rolling inward of the foot when you walk. But we also see heel pain with plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, Achilles tendinitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome, inflammatory conditions, Sever’s disease, stress fractures and even obesity.
If you’re experiencing heel pain, give us a call for an evaluation. We will run several tests — all in our office — to help us diagnose what’s causing the pain. Tests might include digital X-rays, diagnostic ultrasounds, complete computerized 3D digital gait analysis, and comprehensive lower extremity biomechanic exams. These tests will help us customize a highly personalized treatment plan to help you feel better quickly. Treatments can include custom orthotics, arch supports, anti-inflammatories, rest, ice, physical therapy and injections.
For now, the Kentucky Heel Pain Center will be based in our existing offices at 216 Fountain Court, suite 160 just off Man-O-War Boulevard. But we’re working on plans to expand and bring on an additional licensed podiatrist in the future.
Plus, I have also published The Heel Pain Book: A Guide to Understanding Its Causes and Treatments, which you can request a free copy of.
As always, if you have any questions or are experiencing heel pain or other foot problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
