Custom Orthotics (Inserts)

What Are Custom Orthotics?

They are a biomechanical medical device that is specific to your foot according to the design requirements of our podiatrists. These are custom shoe inserts – different than the one-size-fits-all mentality of the drug store knock-offs or large, unflattering orthotics of the recent past.

These biomechanical orthotics combine state-of-the-art technology with the highest performance materials that allow your feet to operate in a more natural and efficient manner.

You can expect to feel improvement in your feet, legs, hips and even your lower back. Related corns, calluses, aches and pains usually diminish and disappear over time.

Our Podiatrists Wear Them Too.

Dr. Freels, Dr. Carter & Dr. Barko all wear them because they are the first custom orthotics they have found that fit into almost any shoe – dress shoes, high heels, cross trainers, running shoes, etc.

They have significantly reduced Dr. Freels’ neck pain that stems from her uneven gait.

They also cause her to stand up taller and straighter, improving her overall appearance.

How Are They Customized?

The results of your examination will be discussed with you in detail and how they relate to your specific back, hip, leg, knee, ankle or foot ailments.

(Have you ever heard that song, “Your knee bone’s connected to your hip bone?”  It’s true!)

After our podiatrists have prescribed orthotics for you, a cast of your feet will be made ensuring that all pressure points, arch and areas of interest are captured. Your cast and our podiatrists’ evaluation will be sent to the lab where the manufacturer will create your unique orthotic. Your custom orthotic will be ready for pick up in about 3 weeks.
