Humans have 206 bones in their body and 26 of those are in the foot (about 13%).

We see a lot of stress fractures, which are caused by repetitive stress, as well as fractured toes and ankle sprains that might involve a fracture and other fractured foot bones.

You may have a stress fracture if you have a sudden onset of pain after being on your feet the previous day for an extended period of time for anything like walking on vacation, an all-day reunion, a big move, a change in exercise...basically everyday life. You need to seek immediate help because this is likely a stress fracture.

Did You Know?

Fractures don't ALWAYS mean surgery. It does require you to be off your foot and in a protective boot or cast.

If left untreated, fractures may lead to surgery.
