We see a lot of patient’s who suffer from a tight Achilles tendon.
Did you know that if traditional stretching methods fail, we can perform surgery to lengthen your tendon
The Achilles tendon is made up of two muscles, the gastrocnemius muscle and the soleus muscle.
About the Procedure
There are two types of procedures which can be performed, but with each one, it can alleviate the added pressure of a tight Achilles tendon. The first procedure called and tendo-achilles lengthening is a minimally invasive procedure in which the entire tendon is lengthened.
A gasctronemius recession is a lengthening of only 1 of the 2 tendons encompassed in the Achilles tendon. This includes an incision, about 6 cm in length.
With either procedure, you should expect to be off of your leg for about 6-8 weeks in a cast or a boot.
