How Choosing Your Foot Surgeon is Like Being in a Relationship 👩❤️💋👨
As a one-stop-shop practice, we have the ability to offer comprehensive care for MOST foot and ankle pathologies. We encompass all aspects of conservative care and now may offer most types of surgical intervention as well.
I have had this conversation with many of my patients but I think it’s an important thing for people to know. Any type of surgery, no matter how “minor” the procedure is, can be scary for patients.
I often tell people that choosing your surgeon is like choosing your significant other. It is not just the surgery that binds you. You generally have several weeks of post-operative visit afterward which you and your surgeon will be meeting, discussing plans for your recovery, and working together to make sure you have the best possible outcome.
What makes a good match for a patient and a surgeon?
Open lines of communication, including a precisely laid out plan of care and post-operative care, attention to detail, and personalities that are able to mesh well.
Much like relationships, the bond between a patient and surgeon may last quite a while. So, make sure when you are making the decision to undergo surgery, it is with a physician you feel comfortable with.
