The Year of the Sneakers
High-fashion shoes used to be all about high heels, stilettos, and pumps – until now. This year, sneakers are making a debut on the red carpet.
Model Candice Huffine reports in a Cosmopolitan style piece that her leather Nike blazers are her favorite shoes to wear year-round. She says, “They’re like a boot. I’m really into the sneaker-with-everything moment.”
We are too, Candice.
Candice isn’t the only one taking advantage of this trend. Lily James, star in Downtown Abbey and the new movie, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, tells People magazine that her favorite personal style isn’t the glamorous wardrobe she’s often shot wearing, but is actually much more casual. She prefers to keep a low profile in jeans and a sweater with a pair of Converse.
Our Professional Opinion
Our podiatrists have changed their opinion on the Converse look and are now more in favor of them! (What?? Aren’t they too flat?)
Recently, the brand has launched a new line of shoes that aren’t so flat on the inside without sacrificing the traditional ‘Converse’ look.
Our podiatrists couldn’t be more thrilled with this year’s sneaker trend. What’s not to love about it? Sneakers are a great alternative to high heels. They keep your feet warmer, are more comfortable and best of all, they are good for your feet.
Before you head out to find your perfect pair, read these couple of tips from our podiatrists:
- Make sure they have good arch support.
- Get fitted for the right size.
Following these tips will ensure that your sneakers will be just as comfortable as they are fashionable. Shop our 100% podiatrist approved sneakers here.
